Cleverly owing their name to Dum Dum Boys, the fantastically sleazy track off of Iggy Pop’s The Idiot, the Dum Dum Girls are one of my own top festival picks. At the forefront of the what seems like revival of the garage-rock girl group, the Dum Dum Girls also mark the revival of the bro-crowd at shows. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Current band members, Dee Dee Jules, Bambi and Sandy will certainly attract major man crowds at their show, but will sustain their attention by their talent. And if you needed another reason to see them, they’re signed to Sub Pop, a label that consistently puts out critically claimed albums and manages to sign essential emerging artists every year (see Shabazz Palaces, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Wolf Parade, ect).
Anyways, they’ll be awesome, you should be there.
